By Irene Kyle, Maureen Kellerman

Provides the most comprehensive picture available of family resource programs in Canada. It reviews the history of Canadian programs, their theoretical bases and the socioeconomic context in which they work. Based on case studies of 15 programs, the report offers a working definition of family resource programs and describes a broad range of program components. The study focuses primarily on the role of child care and employment support services in family resource programs. The publication also identifies key issues and discusses major lessons learned by practitioners in doing family support work. (1998)
