Roxanne Manning has worked in the field of health and social policy for over 10 years, in both the public and non-profit sectors. Most of those years have been spent working with or for the family support sector in Nova Scotia, first as a program coordinator at LEA Place Women’s Centre located in a small community along the province’s Eastern Shore, then as a Senior Policy Analyst with the NS Department of Community Services, and currently as the Executive Director of Dartmouth Family Centre located in the urban community of Dartmouth North.
Her interest in health and social policy emerged while completing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Saint Mary’s University. To further her understanding of the application of government policy in the design and delivery of programs and services, Roxanne completed a Masters degree in Public Administration at Dalhousie University. Throughout her employment, Roxanne has focused on developing a better understanding of the valuable work of family resource programs and the devastating effects of poverty on families through dialogue with politicians, government officials, academics, students, and community partners. She lives in Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia with her husband, Scott, daughters, Lauren and Rachael, and pets, Buster, Sophie, and Sunni.
